Gentle washing and drying setup for silk scrunchies

A silk scrunchie may be small, but it combines fabric, stitching, and an elastic core. Care should reduce friction, stretching, and high heat, with the product label taking priority.

When to wash

Base the frequency on wear, perspiration, styling-product residue, and storage conditions. Clean a scrunchie when you notice visible marks, odor, or buildup rather than washing it aggressively after every use.

Hand wash gently

Use cool water or the low temperature allowed by the label with a small amount of detergent suitable for silk. Press gently and avoid rubbing, long soaking, or repeatedly stretching the elastic core. Test any spot treatment on a small area first.

Remove water and dry

Wrap the scrunchie in a clean towel and press lightly without wringing. Reshape the gathers and dry flat away from strong sunlight, tumble dryers, and hot air. Do not place it in a closed container until fully dry.

Store and rotate

Keep scrunchies in a clean, dry place away from sharp jewelry and leaking cosmetics. Rotating several pieces reduces continuous stretching of one elastic. Retire a scrunchie when the elastic, seams, or fabric are clearly damaged.
