Check the Product Care Label First
Silk products can require different care depending on fabric weight, dye, construction, lining and trims. Always follow the confirmed care label or product-page instructions first. If they differ from this general guide, the product-specific guidance takes priority.
Wash Gently
- Use cold or lukewarm water with a mild detergent suitable for silk.
- When hand washing, press gently. Avoid long soaking, vigorous rubbing, twisting or wringing.
- Use a machine delicate cycle only when the care label permits it, and place the item in a laundry bag.
- Separate light and dark colours and check for possible colour release before the first wash.
Dry and Reshape
- Press excess water out gently with a clean towel; do not wring.
- Reshape and air-dry in a shaded, well-ventilated place away from prolonged direct sunlight.
- Do not leave silk in damp or poorly ventilated conditions for extended periods.
Ironing and Wrinkle Care
If the care label allows, iron on the reverse at a low temperature while the fabric is slightly damp, using a clean pressing cloth. Avoid high heat, lingering in one place or holding a steamer too close to the fabric.
Everyday Storage
- Make sure the item is fully dry before storing.
- Choose a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Fold garments and scarves neatly or use a suitable hanger, keeping rough hardware away from the fabric.
- Avoid spraying perfume, hairspray or alcohol-based products directly onto silk.
Stains and Professional Care
For stubborn stains, complex construction, colour-blocked designs or decorative trims, stop home treatment and consult a cleaner experienced with silk. Do not use chlorine bleach or an unverified strong stain remover.
