Letter sizes are only a starting point for silk loungewear. A more reliable choice comes from comparing your body measurements, preferred ease, and the size chart for the exact garment.
Measure instead of guessing
Use a soft tape to measure the bust or chest, waist, and hips, adding shoulder width, inseam, and height when relevant. Keep the tape close without pulling it tight. Sizing can differ between brands and silhouettes, so the current product chart should take priority.
Allow room for life at home
Loungewear needs to accommodate sitting, bending, reaching, and turning in bed. Even a closer fit should not restrict the underarm, back, waist, or thigh. If you prefer a relaxed look, avoid sizing up automatically when that would distort the shoulder, sleeve, or trouser length.
Check tops and bottoms separately
For tops, focus on the chest, shoulders, and sleeves. For bottoms, compare the waist, hips, rise, and length. If upper and lower measurements fall into different sizes, look for separates or a more forgiving silhouette.
Read the silhouette, not only the number
Classic shirt sets, wrap styles, and relaxed pullovers create different kinds of ease. Terms such as slim, regular, and relaxed make sense only alongside garment measurements.
Final checks before buying
Confirm the units, measuring method, whether the chart lists body or garment measurements, and whether any stretch is actually stated. If sizing details are incomplete, ask before purchasing rather than assuming shrinkage or adjustability.
